Sometimes great marketing means being able to think outside the box. This way, you can find new ways to make your content and products seem interesting, you can reach people in ways and places they otherwise wouldn’t expect and you can find new opportunities that others missed. Creativity is often what sets the successes apart from the failures, so read on to see 10 creative ways you can build subscribers for your list. |
Way #1 – Competitions
Running a competition is a great way to collect e-mails and to create some excitement around your list. You can even team up with another brand! These competitions are known as JV Giveaways. Participating allows your members to find other resources and tools to help them achieve their ultimate goal.
Way #2 – Prize Draws
How about an on-going competition in the form of a prize draw? You can even be creative on what the prizes are. How about a mystery surprise? I am part of a training membership where the business owner actually gives away prizes at the end of the training, but only to those that attend the training live. Allow yourself some creative juice to figure out how to best use this to your advantage.
Way #3 – Get Your Subscribers to
Grow Your List For You!
Tell your subscribers you’ll share your most powerful tip but only if they help you grow your list to an extra 100! I know this may seem like a childish way to do this but I have seen this in action myself with a really good friend, when he was trying to build his list on Facebook. The Law of Reciprocity helps those that use it wisely. Provide the value that your subscribers want and they will refer people to you because they trust you.
Way #4 – Member of the Week
Get your members excited to be a part of something by featuring a regular ‘member of the week’. Recognition is one of the strongest motivators that a human being has. If you think back on things that you have done in your life, then you will find that alot of times you did them for recognition of one kind or another. Maybe it doesn’t need to be a member of the week, but definitely call out your members that are engaging with you and your tribe. This will develop a level of inclusion and camraderie.
Way #5 – Chats and Meetups
Another way to make your list more engaging and to build buzz is to have chats, seminars and meet-ups. You can do them online or even in person! These don’t have to be formal affairs. Being in the industry of any sort requires networking; which means that you should be going to conferences and seminars yourself. While there, offer to do a meetup and you will be surprised the effect this will have on your customers and clients. Having a Facebook Group really helps you implement this idea. It is not that hard to start one or even maintain it.
Way #6 – Market Them
Market members of your list to the other members of your list. This way you give them a financial motive for signing up! I am part of several Facebook groups where this occurs on a weekly basis and I feel that it strengthens the group. Word of caution is to make it abundantly clear that spamming your members is not allowed. Offering advice and help is encouraged.
Way #7 – Affiliate Schemes
You can even run an affiliate scheme and pay other marketers for getting members onto your list. As long as you have a good monetization method, this will provide a return on investment. Having an affiliate hub helps this occur more readily. Listing out your products and services in one central location and having an affiliate tools page for each product allows the affiliates to know what you are willing to pay for each member on your list.
Way #8 – Online Tool
Add an online tool to your website but require an e-mail address for people to sign up and use it. Of course the real creativity comes from knowing what to create! As you can see on my site, I do not do this one. I am not sure what type of software to run but when I came upon this idea, I must say that I am intrigued and will be giving this some thought.
Way #9 – Throw an Event
You can even throw an event in real life in order to get people in one place where you can hand out cards or collect e-mails. If you’re not up for throwing an event then just attend one such as a tradeshow or networking event. Conferences are a must in the online marketing industry. Being able to interact with other marketers and your members adds to the relationship that you are trying to develop.
Way #10 – Publish Your Emails Online
And the last idea is this: Do you want to demonstrate what amazing value and quality you are offering with your emails? Then why not publish them on your site! Or better yet, publish a portion of them on your site so that people have to keep reading by signing up! I do not do this myself but it does offer an opportunity for people to get to know you before they join your list or your groups.
